Istellia, Blood Knight

Back to the WoW fan art for a moment, I am ludicrously pleased with this picture of my Blood Elf Paladin. ^_^

To be honest, as far as the main figure is concerned, this is pretty much unchanged from my original mental vision, which makes a nice change. The background was initially intended to be Old Stratholme, before I recovered from the idiot moment that meant I forgot that would require her to be illusioned. As much as I hate the Argent Tournament lore-wise, I figured it would make a nice and recogniseable substitute background.

I've taken a couple of small liberties with the gear - that sword she's using is a two hander in game, and the shield is a modified version of the Royal Crest of Lordaeron - I figured there's no reason that if she did obtain one, she wouldn't be able to repaint over the big Lordaeron "L". The cloak is entirely made up. I could have given her the washy green thing she wears in game but I figured a nice striking (not Ice Striking... nice superwowgeeky joke there) black and red was much better.

Having looked at a few peoples takes on stone walls, I hit on a now-obvious idea of doing the bricks in varying but similar shades of grey. Very easy way of breaking up the expanse of flat grey, and also very quick to execute! Unlike the picture in general... I spent frickin' hours on this!
